I am very much excited to have Nicolas Ghesquière back and as the creative director of Louis Vuitton, one of world’s leading international fashion houses (and probably more well-known worldwide than the Balenciaga label). Of course, Ghesquière will not disappoint us and probably make me actually like Louis Vuitton (because Marc’s designs didn’t really interest me); however, there’s a part of me that wants him to start his own brand. I know it’s not easy to just start a brand and working at a house with already established history with numerous available resources gives so much more opportunity, but it’s definitely not an impossible thought. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting transition from working at a house that originally began as couture to a house most well-known for its luxury leather goods.
"Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honoured of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision."
Well, I guess it’s now “Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton”
