“I go to see the clothes [I designed] in the shops, and of course they’re not perfect, and I see only the imperfections. But it doesn’t mean it’s a failure—you just think, I wish it could be better than this. Sometimes I cannot achieve what I really want to do in just one collection, so in the following collection I do it again. There are certain things I’ve been working on for three years.”—Junya Watanabe, regarding his fall 2011 menswear collection
“But when you’re a girl, you have to be, like, everything… you have to be dope at what you do, but you have to be super sweet, and you have to be sexy, and you have to be this, and you have to be that, and you have to be nice, and you have to…it’s like, I can’t be all those things at once. I’m a human being”—Nicki Minaj. Rookie
Who do you think is the most beautiful Japanese female?
Hmm, that’s hard since there’s so many lovely Japanese girls out there. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful celebrity would be Kiko Mizuhara. I am strangely attracted to her thick lips, tiny face and how she presents herself in photoshoots and I love her style. However, I have to say the most most most beautiful Japanese females are the Harajuku girls and Dolly Kei. I envy their creativity and confidence. My style is no way alike to theirs but I’ve always thought of the girls as high leaders of fashion.
